This museum which was opened in 2003 possesses a collection of works of art, books, documents and antique
objects connected with the History of Balmaseda which reflect our past, traditions and customs as well as the
importance of the Town throughout history.
The building which was originally the Church of San Juan del Moral, founded by Don Juan López de la Puente in the
15th century, is situated in the old quarter on the banks of the River Kadagua. The style is Gothic – Renaissance and
it has a churrigueresque tower dating from the 18th century and a portico dating from the end of the 19th century.
