Route for the tracks left by the mining of the mountains of Triano

We start the route in the neighborhood of Golifar, after crossing the bridge over the railway suburban railway stop in the Sagrada Familia. We left the path that leads towards the oven siderite. Climbed a small hill, leaving the left side of the road leading to the halls of the Grenada Industrial Park, to continue to the right that leads us to a house between old water tank.
We leave the shell on the right, and continue to climb and then we find a crossing, take the path of the left from where we will begin to see the recreation area of the pond next to the Grenada Industrial.
This area was the neighborhood of Granada where he went by the river of the same name due to its significant flow favored mining activity in the area. Rose two sludge settling ponds and 11 October 1964 blew the raft at the top of the cliff of Grenada, causing the overflow of the lake located at the bottom. This marked the end of the neighborhood as populated enclave.
Among trees, and after climbing the last slope before leaving the wooded area on your right you will find the mouth of a tunnel where the tracks went to the cars carrying the chirta from the tip of the laundry Zarzal andalusia ore.
We have to fix because the mouth of the tunnel is almost covered with scrub, we also find a fallen tree on the path to continue the path we have left to go through it.
After leaving the wooded area are the ruins of the water reservoir that feeds the Maseras where the ore is washed from the tip of the Zarzal (these ruins can be seen best from the recreation area of the Balsas Granada).
Continuing the way we once again find another diversion, take the path of right (which is parallel to the gate closure of the landfill for inert waste and that leads us to the neighborhood of the Orconera). At this point we can see the tunnel where the train went from the mining district was the Orconera until Lutxana (Barakaldo).
This road that goes parallel to the gate of the site and that leads to the mining district of Orconera as we go up we can see in the top quarter Cadegal.
Near the end of the slope on your right is the mouth of a tunnel where the cars came loaded with ore. Later, a road on your right leads to the aforementioned Cadegal mining district, an ideal place to be able to see the town of Ortuella.
Once we reached the neighborhood of the Orconera we see a number of houses and other restored some quite deteriorated.
If we find any of their neighbors down the street a few minutes we can stop and chat a while with them that we will secure some of their experiences and those of their ancestors.
Once we take a short break in the quarter, we continued on a dirt track on the right hand side of the houses that will be leading us towards the road to La Arboleda deTriano.
In this area we will continue to find traces and ruins left by the mining industry.
Once we started up the trail on your right are the ruins of the plane of the Quarry Male, where the ore is down in cars to the train station in the neighborhood of Orconera.
At the next crossroads, take the right from where we are going to better appreciate the aforementioned plane. Above, followed by the plane, are the ruins of the compressor room of the Quarry Macho, cross the wooden bridge.
A few meters above the left, we can see the mouth of a tunnel where the cars came down with the mineral map of the neighborhood to Orconera and about two meters below, there is a cavity in a rock that was a former magazine where the dynamite was kept in the quarry.
A wide track will lead us to the road before reaching a booth can see where the blacksmith here repairing the cars and the ruins of the Quarry Macho.Una After we reached the road, left us go to The Grove, but we took the road to the right that leads to the mining district Triano (this neighborhood is located in the municipality of Abanto-Zierbena), we have to cross the district, but before we continue the way leads to the Interpretation Center Peñas Negras can do a little break and take a drink and a skewer in one of its bars to replenish fuerzas.Una after the break and have crossed the quarter we continued the route, we are a drift towards the but we continue right and up front, we return to find a second crossing and take the path of the left, at a few meters, including chestnut, will allow us to see the whole golf course Meaztegi.En the next junction, we must abandon the path to divert to the right and start up an unpaved path that leads us to a farm.
Occasionally it is interesting to stop and look back to see the golf course, neighborhood Triano and also how far you can see the open area (Las Arenas, Algorta, Santurce, Portugalete ...).
Arriving at the farm and we have very little to complete our path, we continue the way and got to the road next to The Grove. To the right and among pine trees about 50 meters to arrive Interpretation Center Peñas Negras where we can eat, have a drink and see a projection, where we explain the history of mining in the mountains of Triano.
You can also see a scale model of the funicular russet and a line of buckets of ore transportation, as well as a collection of photographs of the area.
We can return by the same route to reach the quarter Orconera here and take the path that leads to Cadegal neighborhood, where we can get the best views of the mining town of Ortuella and down a paved road that leads to the point of departure.
